Be Uplifted Inc Breast Cancer Charity Code of Conduct
- Members acknowledge that Be Uplifted Inc adheres to and endorses a Christian code of ethics.
- Members must have a good understanding of, and be sympathetic with, the aims and objects of Be Uplifted Inc and act in accordance with the governing document at all times.
- Members agree to comply with all forum requirements and as when requested by Management Committee leadership.
- Members must act and make decisions in the best interests of the charity, and its present and future beneficiaries.
- Members must not attend meetings, functions or events whilst under the influence of alcohol or illicit drugs.
- Misappropriation of funds will result in immediate loss of membership and may result in legal action.
- Members should do their best to avoid conflicts of interest, and where they do find themselves conflicted should declare that fact and not take part in any relevant decision-making, in accordance with the conflict of interest policy.
- Where assistance and advice is required for the Members to be able to make the most appropriate decision affecting the charity, that assistance/advice must be sought from an appropriate source and considered carefully. Final decisions will rest with the Management Committee of Be Uplifted Inc.
- Members are requested to play an active role in attendance at meetings, having spent due time reading minutes and relevant information in preparation for the meeting. A minimum attendance of (75%) at meetings is required for Members to ensure that best practice in governance is reached and maintained, though this should be checked with Be Uplifted Inc’s governing policy. Members may be asked to participate in sub-committees of Be Uplifted Inc. All members are requested to play an active role in fundraising and attendance at events.
- Members must not receive any financial or non-financial benefit that is not explicitly authorised by the governing document.
- Members should not exert undue influence to garner any preferential treatment for themselves or their family, or other connected persons (refer to conflict of interest policy).
- Members are jointly and severally liable for their decisions, therefore decisions should be taken together, as a team, recorded accurately in the minutes, and communicated to staff, beneficiaries and funders in a unified manner.
- Members are accountable to the Management Committee for their actions and as such decision-making and governance issues should be as transparent as possible, except for when confidentiality is required.
- Should a member feel they require further guidance or training in their role, it is their responsibility to inform and liaise with the Management Committee to develop opportunities for new training on an individual or group basis.
- Any information of a confidential nature must remain so (refer confidentiality policy).
- The Management Committee has the right to decline donations/gifts if they are not in line with Be Uplifted Inc’s ethics and code of conduct.
I have read and understand the Be Uplifted Inc. Code of Conduct. I agree to abide by the rules described above and understand that I may be removed as a member if I violate any of these rules.

Be Uplifted Inc Breast Cancer Charity is registered as a charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission ABN 49 270 645 534. We are a Brisbane volunteer run breast cancer non-profit charity fundraising to provide to local breast cancer patients and breast cancer survivors and their families with practical care and financial assistance during breast cancer treatment. All donations our Brisbane charity receives and profits from the Be Uplifted Inc Op Shops at Strathpine and Boondall go directly to making a difference in the lives of local Brisbane breast cancer patients.
