Be Uplifted Inc breast cancer charity was founded and registered in 2009 by two incredibly strong women: Barbara Zimmerlie and Wendy Paterson who both survived their breast cancer fight.
Barbara and Wendy felt they had been given a second chance at life. They both wanted to channel and focus their energies to assisting other women, men and their families who were embarking on the same journey.
Examples of how we are being uplifting to Brisbane people on a breast cancer journey are: we provide access to services and programs, pay bills and provide goods or assistance to alleviate financial difficulty or disadvantage.
Be Uplifted Inc will arrange for example a wheelchair for a terminally ill breast cancer patient, purchase a family a new washing machine, provide a patient who has lost their casual employment with groceries or assist with schooling costs for a single young mum who simply has too many bills to pay because of her breast cancer treatment.
As a breast cancer charity registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission, Be Uplifted Inc is obliged to be transparent and accountable for its fundraising activity. You can read more about the role of the Commission here.
Money received from fundraising is not spent on administrative costs of our non-profit organisation. Which means every extra dollar we raise is an extra dollar we can use to help a Brisbane breast cancer patient and their family.
We are only limited by the amount of fundraising dollars we receive each year to reach out and help local Brisbane people on a breast cancer journey.
